  • Our story begins in 1999, when Moe Siry purchased the structure of what would become the Porto Vista Hotel. As an immigrant with nothing but determination and a vision to create an affordable, one-of-a-kind, family-owned hotel in the heart of downtown San Diego, Moe exemplified the American Dream. A true visionary.

Since then, Porto Vista has developed into one of the most stylish and affordable boutique hotels in the city. With 190 mid-century-style rooms, including 5 suites, private valet parking, rooftop “spool” (heated mini-pool with spa jets) and event space, there’s something for everyone. Our location in downtown’s vibrant Little Italy neighborhood also provides our guests access to a hotbed of cultural, culinary and artistic activity. Che bella! It’s a neighborhood rich in history and class, and we strive to pay tribute to that through our dedication to vintage comfort— but with a twist. Think 1960’s Mediterranean vibes: Don Draper wearing shorts, or Audrey Hepburn on a Vespa.

SPOOL:

Our SPOOL is it a jetted spa or miniature pool? Answer: it’s a little bit of both.

  • But what good is charm without sophistication? San Diego’s eclectic, cross-border art scene is one of the most exciting in the country, and we’re dedicated to showcasing, curating and developing it. Porto Vista is an artist’s canvas that features original art from local and international artists in each room, where guests mingle amidst colorful sculptures and murals, and where resident artists turn every open space into a gallery. Even the funky, cool sky bridges that connect our buildings add a touch of postmodern flair.

As proud as we are of our story so far, we’re always thinking about the future. Namely, Porto Vista’s environmental impact. Solar energy, plastic straw bans, and strict recycling measures are just a few steps we’ve taken to reduce our carbon footprint, and we strive to keep improving. Because green is always in style.
